Typically citizens of Winona hear of the Port’s involvement with some of Winona’s largest employers such as WinCraft, Cytec or Hal Leonard. As it turns out, the most rewarding economic development projects often involve working with either business start-ups or the business contemplating its’ first expansion project. Such was the case with Infinity Chiropractic and Wellness.
Dr. Kristin Lichty, a Winona State graduate and athlete had recently completed her studies at the Palmer College of Chiropractic. She was wrestling with a problem most businesses would love to have: she was too busy and recognized she needed to be more efficient. At one location she was busily working with her chiropractic patients while at another location her massage and wellness practice was experiencing rapid growth.
Dr. Lichty was presented with an opportunity to lease space adjacent to her Wellness Center. The new space, in need of remodeling, would allow her to better manage both businesses. The Port liked her ideas and thought it was a great fit for downtown Winona. We looked at funds available from Kristen and her banker and determined there was a gap in funding that the Port could fill. With an investment from Dr. Lichty accompanied by a loan from her banker and the Port, Kristen opened her new chiropractic center in May of 2015.
We wish her and her staff the best of luck and know their venture will be an unqualified success.
